1985년의 작가 스튜디오에서, 오늘의 미술관까지. 도심에서 벗어난 용인 모현읍의 조용한 숲속에서, 한 건물이 작가의 손으로 시작되어 40년에 걸쳐 오늘의 사립 미술관으로 자리했습니다.
From a 1985 artist's studio to today's museum. Set in a quiet forest in Mohyeon-eup, Yongin — away from the rush of the city — a single building began with an artist's hands and, over four decades, took its place as the private museum it is today.

숲속의 스튜디오The Beginning, 1985
1985년, 용인 모현읍의 조용한 숲속에서 건물의 건축이 시작되었습니다. 처음 구상은 미술관이 아닌, 작가의 스튜디오. 온전히 작업에만 몰두할 수 있는 사적인 공간이었습니다. 1986년의 첫 개방은 지역의 작가들을 스튜디오로 맞이하는 자리였습니다.
Construction began in 1985 in a quiet forest in Mohyeon-eup, Yongin. The original idea was not a museum but a working artist's studio — a private space dedicated entirely to making. By 1986, the first opening welcomed local artists into the studio.

이후 40년 가까운 시간 동안, 이 공간은 작가의 작품과 고뇌를 함께해왔습니다. 회화가 그려지고 다시 그려졌으며, 벽은 작업 중인 작품들을, 안료 보관실은 재료와 스케치, 작업의 흔적을 품어왔습니다.
For nearly four decades, this space has held the artist's work and struggle. Paintings were made and unmade. Walls carried works in progress; the paint storeroom held materials, sketches, and the traces of making.

시간 속의 건물The Building, Over Time
1985년 작가의 스튜디오로 시작된 이 건물은, 40년의 시간 동안 그 자리와 본래의 모습을 지켜왔습니다. 작가의 손과 세월이 새긴 결을 그대로 품은 채, 오늘의 문아트그라운드라는 미술관으로 그 혼을 이어갑니다.
The building began in 1985 as an artist's studio, and across four decades it has held its place and kept its original form. Carrying the grain left by the artist's hand and by time itself, its spirit continues into today's Moon Art Grounds.

리노베이션Renovation
원형을 지키며, 새롭게 열다The Renovation
건물을 일반에 열기로 결정하면서, 설계의 원칙은 분명했습니다. 1985년의 건축이 가진 비례, 구조, 재료의 결을 그대로 보존한다. 그 위에 관객의 시각, 경험, 그리고 끊임없이 변할 수 있는 공간을 입혔습니다.
The principle was clear from the moment we decided to open the building to the public: preserve the proportions, structure, and material grain of the 1985 architecture. Over that, we layered the visitor's view, experience, and a space that can always change.
Moongate Design Studio의 소유로 시작된 이 프로젝트는 새로운 형태의 복합문화공간 미술관으로 새롭게 런칭하게 되었습니다.
The project began under the ownership of Moongate Design Studio and has been newly launched as a complex cultural-space museum.
